Ruben Ligeon and Mitchell Schet are coming to Slovan Bratislava
Slovan Bratislava has signed two new Dutch players.
Ruben Ligeon is a 24-years old defender, who plays mostly at right side of defense and he can play as a right midfielder, too. His advantage is, that he has also strong left foot, so Ligeon can be also a left defender. He started his career in Ajax Amsterdam, where he won three Dutch titles and one Supercup. Then, he was on loan in Breda, Willem II Tilburg and Utrecht. Ligeon played 38 games in Eredivisie in total and 11 games in Dutch national cup. He was playing for national teams U17, U19, U20 and U21. Ruben Ligeon played 30 games in national team and scored once. He got a silver medal from European championships U17 in 2009.
Ligeon is coming from Ajax Amsterdam, where he had contract for one more year. About his transfer, there were personal negotiations between our vice-president Ivan Kmotrík jr. and Ajax´s sports director Marc Overmars.
“Negotiations with Ajax Amsterdam about Ruben´s transfer were very correct. I would like to pick up mainly helpfulness and professional attitude of director Marc Overmars, with whom I was negotiating this transfer. I am very glad, that we made a deal, because there was a huge interest for the player in a market. Contract for four years is a result of our long-term strategy, in base of which we build a team with big potential and perspective,” said vice-president of our club Ivan Kmotrík jr.
Mitchell Schet is a 28-years old winger, he can play also as a forward. Schet is a fast player with good technical qualities. He started his career in Utrecht, then, he left to Feyenoord Rotterdam in 2005. He played in Excelsior, Waalwijk, Groningen and ADO Den Haag. Schet played 79 games in Eredivisie in total and scored five goals. He came to Slovakia in 2015, he played 24 games in Trenčín and scored eight goals. He played in Dutch youth national teams and got bronze medal from World championships U17 in 2005.
“With coming a Mitchell, there is going to be a huge rise of quality in offense phase of our team. His football style brilliantly fits to our conception, we count with him as a winger and as a forward also. I hope, that both Ruben and Schet will adapt fast and will help to fulfill our season goals. I would be happy, if we finish transfers of another two players in following weeks,” said Ivan Kmotrík jr.
