Svetozar Marković joins ŠK Slovan Bratislava
A significant reinforcement for the defensive formation at the start of winter training. Center back Svetozar Marković is transferring from Viktoria Plzeň to Slovan Bratislava. The most successful Slovak club has signed him to a 4.5-year contract.
Svetozar Marković is still only 25 years old, but he already has an interesting curriculum. As a young player, he wore the captain's armband at Partizan Belgrade and played the same role for the Serbian national team under 21. He played for Olympiacos and Viktoria Plzeň, from where he is transferring to Slovan Bratislava. This season, he has played 19 games for Plzeň, with a total playing time of over 1,100 minutes.
"I am very happy that we have finally managed to sign Svetozar Marković. I say finally because we have tried several times before. In the past, we negotiated with Partizan, now with Viktoria Plzeň, and I am very happy that we have reached an agreement on the transfer. We are acquiring a player whom we have been watching closely for a long time and know well. He will strengthen our defensive line in the center of defense and is also coming at a very good age. In the first part of the season, he played difficult European matches for Plzeň, he has experience in international football, and he knows what it's like to play for clubs with the highest goals. I am convinced that Svetozar will be an asset to us, and I am very happy that our paths have finally crossed," said Ivan Kmotrík Jr., the club's CEO.
"I am very happy to be playing for Slovan Bratislava. I am joining the biggest club in Slovakia, which plays in a beautiful stadium and has great fans. I experienced this myself while playing for Olympiacos, when I was at Tehelné pole in 2021. I want to give 100% in every training session and match, and I long for success with Slovan. I know that expectations are always high here, but I am used to that from my time at Partizan, Olympiacos, and Plzeň. I am looking forward to the new challenge and can't wait to play for Slovan for the first time in this beautiful stadium," said Svetozar Marković.
